Hersham 14th December 2013 Christmas Event AND 2013 photography competition
The 14th December was a busy day of coordinated Christmas events in Hersham – but a great sucess.
The poster explains what it was all about – see Festive in Hersham on 14th December!!
However in summary – in the morning carols by Hersham Churches together outside Waitrose was followed by a spectacular gathering of Greyhounds on the Green organised by Hersham Hounds. The afternoon included a fancy dress line up which featured Elfs, Father Christmases, a range of crazy hats and a Christmas pudding outfit.
The Mayor of Elmbribge was then treated to some excellent singing from the Hersham Twig singers who also led some community carol singing. After that the considerable crowd that gathered on the Green joined in a countdown to the Mayor switching on the lights on Hersham’s Christmas tree which had been beautifully decorated with robins made by Burhill school children.
The Mayor and assembled company then packed out the Waterman’s Arm’s function room for mulled wine and mince pies. Those who were there agreed that the whole event seemed to have a great ‘village community feel’ to it. The HRA who helped to coordinate the day was very pleased with how it all went and how the local shops, Burhill School, the Twig singer, the Waterman’s Arms and the local councillors all pulled together to make it happen. It was such a success we are thinking about a date for next year already. – any views mailto:info@hershamresidents.info
